With apologies to Joyce Kilmer: I think that I shall never bow/To writing a poem about a cow. While the world collapses in on itself due to the impossible existence of the previous sentence, we’ll take these last few moments to opine on poetic bovine. In the tradition of art inspiring art, Emily Dickinson’s poem “Those cattle smaller than a Bee” is the impetus for Ray-Mel Cornelius’ series featuring the humble ruminants as both a study in landscape geometry and pastoral mythology. Sounds fancy. Poets and Cattle: Ray-Mel Cornelius opens with an artist’s reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday during the DADA Gallery Walk at Norwood Flynn Gallery, 3318 Shorecrest Drive, and hangs through October 15.
