On Saturday, The Dallas Opera Guild presents its 26th Annual Vocal Competition at the Winspear Opera House. Some 20 young semifinalists – all with Texas connections- will sing their hearts out in front of an esteemed panel of judges, each hoping to impress them enough to take home thousands of dollars in cash prizes. The competition gets started with a semifinal round that runs from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and concludes with the final round at 7:30 p.m. Fancy yourself a critic with an ear for talent? Grab a ballot and vote for the The People’s Choice Award. Every year a sizable cash prize is awarded to the audience’s favorite. This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available under the Winspear Opera House (2403 Flora St.) in the Lexus Red Garage for $5. For more information on the competition and the competitors, visit dallasopera.org.
