With Victory Plaza taking over downtown and the (possible) reinvention of Deep Ellum, downtown Dallas is poised to be the next big thing. But what about the old thing? We often forget about the past, and the fact that Dallas has so much history is unfortunately lost on a lot of us. Thankfully, the Dallas Historical Society, with help from historian and author Dr. Michael V. Hazel, are around to show us our roots. “Amid the Skyscrapers of Downtown Dallas” is a tour of important local landmarks such as Dealey Plaza, the Old Red Courthouse, Pioneer Cemetery, Theater Row and more. The tour is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and leaves from the Hall of State in Fair Park, 3939 Grand Ave. Tickets are $35 for DHS members, $45 for non-members (lunch included). Call 214-421-4500, ext. 101 or visit dallashistory.org.
Sat., March 24, 9 a.m.
