The volunteer confessors who spill their guts in Nicole Stewart’s Oral Fixation (An Obsession with True Life Tales) storytelling series are often serious writers and actors. But one of Stewart’s skills is working with someone who doesn’t consider themselves to be a writer, or who has never been on stage, and suss out the most compelling parts of their story or ease a jittery first-timer into the spotlight. Which is great — English and theater majors shouldn’t have the monopoly on telling their tales. Each month’s episode has a theme, and January’s is “Cloud Nine.” Contributors include a flight attendant’s story of a traumatic flight, a woman’s story of ecstatic love and an answer to the question of what happens when 11 queens in full drag fly to Austin. Get high at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary, 3120 McKinney Ave. Tickets are $20 at the door. Visit oralfixationshow.com for $15 advance tickets and more info. (Do buy them in advance, these shows sell out.)
