Balanced, not boring. That’s Robert Rector‘s work, boiled down to three words. But although it’s easy to condense the description, the work itself is far from simplistic. While the contemporary Southern painter seeks to maintain a sense of symmetry and cohesiveness in his work, the visual tension, use of color and texture, and architectural elements ensure that it doesn’t cross the line toward repetitive or dull. Robert Rector’s Natural Forces is on view from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays through May 25 at Gremillion & Co., 2251 Vantage St. Admission is free. Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: April 29. Continues through May 21, 2011
