TITAS has quite the dance season planned for us. First, they gave us MOMIX; now, they are presenting work from one of the world’s most important contemporary choreographers. Those are some big words, I know, but it’s actually true in this case. Donald Byrd and Spectrum Dance Theater have become known as the go-to company for contemporary dance. Like their counterparts in the dance world, the company is full of well-trained, beautiful dancers, and intricate and subtle choreography, but what makes them so unique is Bryd’s voice. A voice that tells heart-wrenching beautiful stories that are based in reality, and a voice that has something to say about art. The company is on the verge of exploding into a new era, and with their Dallas debut, we get a front-row seat to witness their journey. See the show at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Winspear Opera House, 2403 Flora Street. Tickets are $12-$135 and available at attpac.org.
Sat., Sept. 27, 8 p.m., 2014
