Fact: Being called “Yankee Doodle” wasn’t exactly nice in pre-Revolutionary War terms. And “macaroni” once referred to an 18th-century metrosexual. These days, we’ve reclaimed the epithet, learning to belt out one’s “Yankee Doodle Dandiness” as early as kindergarten when macaroni is considered the epitome of all artistic media. Seem confusing? Oil and Cotton helps bring it all together for the little folks during The Yankee Doodles Sing-A-Long, an afternoon of art and songs at the Reading Room.
