The Producers is the Oprah’s Favorite Things of theater. You can’t help but sing-shout when you talk about it. And starting Friday, The Uptown Players will give you a reason to sing-shout all the damn time. They’ll perform The Producers and it’ll have everything you’re looking for: riotous comedy, oversized musical numbers and more wool hats than you can count. (Provided you can count beyond two.) The story is the same: A producer hits a rough patch so he teams up with his accountant to make a quick buck. Their plan? Simple. Raise millions, produce a flop and skip off into the sunset. The snag? The show is a hit. Their misadventures will fill your night with more entertainment than you can fit in a neeew caaar. (That’s my Oprah callback. Enjoy.) Check out The Producers on opening night, 8 p.m. Friday at The Kalita Humphreys Theater, 3636 Turtle Creek Blvd. Tickets range from $30 to $50 and are on sale now at uptownplayers.org.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 24. Continues through Sept. 15, 2012
