Family vacations are supposed to be fun and stress-free–especially if you are a 6-year old. After spending a lovely week in San Antonio with the family, my parents decided to stop off at a snake farm on the drive home. Their next great idea was to put their extremely young daughter on one of those novelty heart-rate machines that was conveniently placed by the rattlesnake pit. Needless to say, we were running out the door to our car 30 seconds later (probably in fear that if we stayed longer they would have to explain to the ER nurse why their daughter had a heart attack). I also blame the movie Clash of the Titans for my snake fear–thanks, Medusa. Geico is sponsoring a reptile event this weekend to give serpents and related creatures a good reputation again. North Texas wildlife experts will be on hand to educate us about these cold-blooded creatures and if it’s a good idea to keep one as a pet. The Museum of Nature & Science (1318 S. 2nd Ave. in Fair Park) will hold Reptile Fest this Saturday and Sunday. The ticket prices range from $5.50 to $8.75.
