We think it’s well-established that kids are not the biggest opera fans, so we’re not sure about the following combination. Radio Disney and the Dallas Opera are joining forces to present The Dallas Opera Cartoon Carnival. It’s not quite chocolate and peanut butter, but it is “an afternoon of music, games and new experiences for the entire family” with a 30-minute concert of opera-related favorites as a centerpiece. Other activities include an “instrument petting zoo” (careful with that Stradivarius, Johnny!) featuring members of The Dallas Opera Orchestra, backstage tours, “Dress Like an Opera Star,” a lively cooking demonstration, goodie bags provided by Radio Disney and door prizes that include a Family V.I.P. trip for four to The Dallas Opera production of The Barber of Seville. Check it out from noon until the fat lady sings (4 p.m.) Saturday in the Music Hall at Fair Park. Tickets are $5 for kids and $10 for adults and can be purchased at 214-443-1000 or at the door the day of the event. Visit dallasopera.org.
Sat., Nov. 11, 12-4 p.m.
