Our city’s skyline is modest by big city standards — a concentrated cluster, for sure, but it packs an iconic punch. There’s no mistaking that you’re home when you see Reunion Tower’s big glowing ball or the stately lights of the Arts District — it’s a silhouette that comforts and even inspires a certain level of pride, despite the showiness and the real estate dramatics behind it. The Dallas Cityscape project at the Galleria Dallas, 13350 Dallas Parkway, celebrates that sight, recreating our beloved municipal profile with toy building bricks and a level of detail that will thrill your kids and inspire you to new levels of playroom engineering. Through September 2, you can check out detailed replicas of Reunion Tower, Klyde Warren Park, American Airlines Center, the Arts District and many more Dallas horizon staples during mall hours, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday. And while you ooh and aah, the littles can construct their own skyscrapers in the Kids Construction Zone. Admission is $5 for ages 2 and older. All proceeds benefit the non-profit East Dallas Community Schools, which operate early-childhood learning centers beneath that dazzling skyline. Visit dallascityscape.com.
