If you really just can’t bear to wait until July Fourth to feel really American, and if Memorial Day is still 24 hours too far away, Sunday is just as USA. Why? Because it’s National Tap Dance Day, of course. And while you may see some clog, step, and stomp roots (from England, Ireland, and West Africa and Haiti, respectively) in tap, it’s truly an American dance form. Celebrate with Arts Fifth Avenue in Fort Worth as it hosts an annual block party to celebrate National Tap Dance Day’s 25th anniversary. Enjoy concessions, live music, a silent auction, and of course, tap dance. Work on your shim sham and see if you can impress special guest, the legendary Tommy Tune. If not, maybe he can show you a thing or two about a flap-ball change, or a dig-spank to really grab your attention. Check out even more dancers and more family fun for free, beginning 7 p.m. Sunday on the outdoor stage at Arts Fifth Avenue, 1628. Ave., Fort Worth. Visit artsfifthavenue.org.
