Christmas caroling, ornament-making, a Christmas-tree maze, a holiday stage show and a visit from Santa, all wrapped up with a ride on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad: The North Pole Express in Grapevine has everything a train- and Christmas-loving child could desire, minus any creepily not-quite-human Tom Hanks characters straight from the uncanny valley. Chesapeake Energy presents the one-hour program for kids, who are encouraged to wear the Christmas pajamas for a ride aboard a vintage locomotive. Tickets are $18 per person, and children 2 and younger can sit on an adult’s lap, but must have a complimentary ticket to board. The train departs at regular intervals from Grapevine Vintage Railroad, 705 S. Main St., Grapevine. The one-hour shows begin from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. daily until December 21. Parking and shuttle rides are available at the Grapevine Library, 1201 Muncipal Way. Visit grapevinetexasusa.com/christmas or call 817-410-8136 for more information.
Saturdays, Sundays, 10:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m.; Mondays-Fridays, 2:30-8:30 p.m. Starts: Dec. 17. Continues through Dec. 21, 2011
