On a typical Sunday morning, you’ll find joggers scattered around White Rock Lake, but this Sunday the tranquil area will be host to thousands of runners on a mission to win gold…and free Gatorade. It’s not the Olympics, but the Big D Texas Marathon certainly isn’t for amateurs. Runners would be smart to invest in a good pair of sneakers for this trek, which covers 26 miles of neighborhoods and scenic sections of Dallas, including White Rock Lake. We just hope there’s beer at the finish line. The race begins at 8 a.m. at the Automobile Building at Fair Park (1300 Robert B. Cullum). For more information and registration, visit texasmarthon.com.
