There are two kinds of people in this world: Those that celebrate their country’s independence by guzzling beer and grilling bratwursts, and those that celebrate by going on an EIGHT THOUSAND meter run around East Dallas. If you belong to the latter group, then this Fourth of July, you won’t want to miss the Flagpole 8K, which gets rolling at White Rock Lake’s Norbuck Park at 7:30 a.m. Registration for the annual run, which takes place mostly along the shores of White Rock Lake and the adjoining peninsula neighborhood, must be completed by June 28. Come for the 8000 meters, stay for the free T-shirt and fresh fruit served post-run. For more info, call 214-821-0909 or check out whiterockracing.com.
