If you’re new to competitive bullriding, you might not know about the rise of Brazilian riders in the American Professional Bull Riders (PBR) circuit. Might seem strange, but did you know that one of the country’s best is not only Brazilian but also calls Keller home? Adriano Moraes, the two-time PBR global champion, is a compelling local (profiled in our February 10, 2005, feature, “Bullheaded”) who inspired many of his original countrymen to move from Brazil to compete in the American circuit. One of those compadres, Guilherme Marchi, is actually beating second-place Moraes in the PBR Built Ford Tough series right now, and the two will compete against each other once more at the PBR Fritos Invitational. Watch those two, along with third-placer Mike Lee from Decatur and dozens of others, compete at the American Airlines Center, 2500 Victory Ave., at 6:50 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Entry is $20 to $100. Call Ticketmaster at 214-373-8000 or visit ticketmaster.com.
