The Dallas Comedy House has a fairly tall bar to jump over after past years’ comedy festivals, but it’s off to a good start with its main stand-up show.
The club confirmed that national headliner and star of TBS’ Ground Floor Rory Scovel will headline the stand-up portion of the annual Dallas Comedy Festival scheduled to run March 19-22. There’s no word yet if the club paid to fly out Scovel’s backup musician and piano as part of his appearance deal.
The improv-heavy comedy festival will also fly out renowned performers such as Susan Messing and Kate Duffy from Chicago’s Annoyance, Second City and iO Theaters to lead comedy workshops and perform along with the show’s roster of sketch and improv troupes. Past festivals have featured sketch and improv performers such as Saturday Night Live alum Tim Meadows, Key & Peele’s Keegan-Michael Key and Workaholics’ Maribeth Monroe.
