The real fairy tale in the Plano Metropolitan Ballet’s production of Cinderella isn’t that some pretty girl escaped a life of housekeeping by being, well, pretty … it’s that a group of 10- to 18-year-olds are realizing their dreams of dancing in a ballet production. It’s a beautiful thing to see a company of professional dancers perform to perfection, but watching a group of young, enthusiastic kiddos throw it all out there to make this beloved story come to life is an entirely different experience. These ballerinas lend lightness, playfulness and a sense of fun to a story that’s already a captivating affair. Performances are at 7 p.m. on Fridays and 3 p.m. on Saturdays from Friday through January 20 at the Courtyard Theater, 1509 Ave. H in downtown Plano. Tickets are $15, and may be purchased at planometballet.org.
Fridays, 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 3 p.m. Starts: Jan. 6. Continues through Jan. 20, 2012
