Move over Trinity, there’s a new river in town! Big River, the classic Roger Miller musical based on Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn, rolls in this weekend courtesy of Garland Civic Theatre. There are no fancy bridges to cross (or debate!), but Huck’s adventure with a runaway slave on the Mighty Mississippi doesn’t lack drama or stand-out characters along the way. Actors Jonathan Metting and D. Dean take on the roles of Huck and Jim, respectively. Big River runs Thursday through October 28 at the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St. in Garland. Tickets are $11 to $25. Call 972-205-2790 or visit garlandcivictheatre.org.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Oct. 5. Continues through Oct. 28
