Until now, New England held the title for creepiest-looking houses. The Richardson Theatre Centre is looking to tumble that juggernaut with its production of The Haunting of Hill House. The play follows a gaggle of guests led into the sinister mansion by a knowledgeable older gentleman. The last time this happened it was called Clue, but we’re feeling optimistic this time. The older gentleman is a supernatural researcher and describes his guests as “psychically receptive,” and hey, he could’ve called them something worse. They all pile in to probe the house’s old secrets and mysterious powers. Unluckily for them, Hill House’s previous owners were wracked with madness, death and ill will. And I bet there was a termite problem. The photos promise old-timey costumes and anxious sideways glances, two things as synonymous with Halloween as candy corn and sinus infections. Haunting of Hill House runs through Halloween night. Thursday’s 7:30 p.m. show includes dinner for $30 to $40. Friday’s and Saturday’s 8 p.m. show is $22, and Sunday’s 2:30 p.m. matinee is only $20.
