If you thought that Django Unchained was going to be a biopic about John Baptiste “Django” Reinhardt, then we’re thinking Tarantino’s violence-laden spaghetti Western gave you quite a surprise. Perhaps this weekend’s Django Reinhardt Festival will be more your cup of tea? For three nights, jazz lovers will experience workshops, films, food and music celebrating the beloved gypsy jazz guitarist who is considered by many to be one of the most important guitar players of all time — and he did it with only two fingers. Oh, and you’ll get to see that non-aggressive Django film yet, as the festival closes Sunday with a screening of Life After Django, followed by live music from La Pompe and String Theory Manouche. The Django Reinhardt Festival: FW 2013 runs Friday through Sunday at Arts Fifth Avenue, 1628 5th Ave. in Fort Worth. Tickets are $20 per night or $45 for the full weekend. Call 817-923-9500 or visit artsfifthavenue.org.
