Walking Dallas is not something for the faint of heart. Remember the video of that poor woman from Austin who tried to cross the street in the Knox/Henderson area a few weeks back? Bless her heart; she thought that a crosswalk would protect her from the onslaught of texting Uptowners, one of whom never looked up to see her when she was hit by his car. By some miracle, she’s OK, but the video is a painful reminder that this is not the most pedestrian-friendly city. Thankfully, the 2011 Dallas Art Dealer Association (DADA) Spring Gallery Walk is more art, less walk…meaning you can enjoy a number of gallery shows, panel discussions, and the Arts Magnet Spring Senior Show without risking pedestrian accidents or even blisters. Because each corner of the Metroplex has galleries to be proud of, this gallery walk will require that you buckle up in the safety of your car as you travel from Bishop Arts to the Design District to Richardson, and that’s just the start. Over 35 galleries will participate in this mostly free event (panel discussions are $10) with events beginning at 10:30 a.m. and wrapping up at 8 p.m. Get ready to put your GPS navigation system to work , but do keep a watchful eye on those crosswalks.
