If Tchaikovsky had spent time in New Orleans, then The Nutcracker as we know it may have been a bit different, but since he was a white guy from Russia more than 100 years ago, he put forth The Nutcracker as it typically stands. Though a classic, it doesn’t resonate so well with all of us in the modern era, so local playwright C.S. Robinson decided to have his hand at the ballet and has brought forth The Milk Chocolate Nutcracker. Full of New Orleans music and a West African back story, this multicultural Nutcracker performance will surprise and delight audiences in a whole new way. Grab the young ones and spend an afternoon at the GO Ministries of God’s Grace Family Church presentation of the debut of The Milk Chocolate Nutcracker at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Carpenter Performance Hall at the Irving Arts Center, 3333 N.
