New media artist Brittany Ransom is a visual, interactive artist who examines the divide between human, animal and environment. Take for instance her “Track Series,” a research series that examines the paths of beetles via video, photos and motion capture images. Or “HOST” a five-channel video installation with a single live fee that examines the pest and host relationship between humans and animals. Ransom will talk about her work as part of the Visiting Artist Lecture Series at SMU’s Meadows School of Art. The lecture is free and takes place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, in the third-floor screening room of the Owen Arts Center on the SMU campus. For more information call 214-768-2489.
