The best NBA team that plays in a city you’d actually want to live in (yeah, Detroit, that was for you), the Dallas Mavericks, convene Saturday to take on the underachieving Minnesota Timberwolves, who may or may not have retained the services of disgruntled Pacer All-Star Ron Artest by then. Kevin Garnett’s Timberwolves are rumored to be among Artest’s many suitors. In short: Mavs fans, if you remember what happened in Detroit last year, do not, oh, I don’t know, throw a cup of beer at Mr. Artest, because he will bring it. The Mavericks, meanwhile, have the second-best record in basketball and, more importantly, seem to be playing the type of tough, aggressive basketball that they’ll need to play to avoid another short and listless trip to the post-season.
