Most, if not all of us have seen water lily paintings, thanks to Monet. But if you get the impression that there’s more to them than that, you’re right. Rising Gallery’s latest exhibit, Waterfront, puts the famous flora front and center in new ways, like Lisa Distefano’s abstracts of Louisiana bayou versions and the work of Benjamin Purvis, whose bold paintings are from memory. See Waterfront from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 31 at the Rising Gallery, 4631 Insurance Lane. Admission is free. Call 214-559-4158 or visit risinggallery.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Nov. 5. Continues through Dec. 31, 2010
