Remember those long days stuck inside a cold cement-block room listening to your college professor drone on about the rules of financial accounting as you dreamed about laying out by your apartment’s pool? Ok, so maybe I was a business major as an undergrad and sucked at accounting, so I was stuck in summer school trying to pass it, but you probably know that feeling of cold dread that comes when you imagine having to spend one more day in school; or when you think about the educational system in general. Summer School, which opens at Liliana Bloch Gallery this Saturday, explores the current state of the American education system, by placing it in an international context. The participating artists, from across the world, will be illustrating their personal and global perspective on this issue, exploiting the political and private agendas that exist. Stop by the opening reception from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Liliana Bloch Gallery, 2919 Commerce Street, Suite C, Dallas. The exhibition runs through September 6.
