I never saw Mamma Mia! onstage, but I did enjoy Meryl Streep’s performance in the movie (which, since it was filmed in the Greek islands, is chock-full of amazing scenery that will make you want to hop on a plane to get the hell outta Dodge and into the Greek islands as soon as possible). You, of course, have to like ABBA if you’re going to survive this show, but as long as you do, there’s a lot to love about the musical. The story is about a daughter’s attempt, in the days leading up to her wedding, to discover her father’s identity. So she brings three potential fathers to the ceremony without her mother knowing, and humorous chaos ensues as mom is confronted by her beaux from back in the day. Mamma Mia! takes the stage Tuesday through August 30 at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Tickets cost between $25 and $80, and shows are 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. For tickets and more information, call 214-691-7200 or visit dallassummermusicals.org.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Aug. 18. Continues through Aug. 30, 2009
