Well, it’s taken 23 years, but it’s finally here guys. The musical adaptation of the 1991 flick Dogfight is heading to Dallas. Come see the 2013 Lucille Lortel Award-winning production, opening at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Water Tower Theatre (15650 Addison Road). Newly forged Marine, Eddie Birdlace (Zak Reynolds) is looking for two things, before he’s shipped off to serve his country in Vietnam: an ugly girl and a windfall of cash. Him and his fellow Marine pals are competing to see who can bring the ugliest girl to the bar, but things change after Birdlace meets Rose Fenny (Juliette Talley), a down-to-earth and idealistic waitress. Will Fenny get through Birdlace’s thick shell? Will Birdlace learn that there’s more to life than what’s on the outside? Did you realize how many roles Leonardo DiCaprio landed after River Phoenix’s death? You’ll find out (the first two at least), if you make the trek down to the show, which runs until August 17, For show times and tickets ($22-25) head to watertowertheatre.org
Wednesdays, Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m.; Mon., July 28, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: July 23. Continues through Aug. 17, 2014
