Sometimes I wonder about the people behind the naming of certain events and festivals. For example, Burning Man in Nevada. I realize at the end of the whole thing you actual burn some sort of bonfire-shaped man, but the name sounds so brutal and painful. The same goes for Savor Dallas, because you aren’t actually eating parts of Dallas architecture and savoring the taste, or are you? I might not agree with the name, but I can appreciate the concept of this foodie event. This Friday and Saturday, The 6th Annual Savor Dallas will be taking over the Arts District with wine and food tasting from more than 60 local chefs. On Saturday, it enjoy the Arts District Wine Stroll at the Dallas Museum of Art (1717 N. Harwood St.), where guests can sip on wine and sample food bites. Then on Sunday, Savor Dallas will invade The Sheraton Hotel (400 N. Olive St.) with a series of wine tasting seminars followed by the International Grand Tasting from 7 to 10 p.m. Besides filling up your belly, you’re also helping out with a good cause because Savor Dallas donates a certain amount of proceeds to the North Texas Food bank, a scholarship program, and Booker T.
