Sunday night wouldn’t be complete without a secret ingredient, two dueling chefs and a host who is frighteningly flexible for a cooking show. Now Iron Chef fans will finally get a chance to taste and smell competition Wednesday as the Observer hosts Iron Fork, our first-ever cooking showdown featuring two chefs you may recognize from some of your favorite restaurants. John Tesar, formerly of The Mansion, recently opened The Commissary, and now he’s ready to take on Scott Romano of Charlie Palmer in an epic battle with a secret ingredient even we don’t know yet. Radio personality Gene Gates, food blogger Steve Doyle and Dailycandy.com editor Brittany Edwards Cobb will judge the dishes and pick a winning chef. Of course you’re going to get hungry watching the food fly, so several restaurants, including Il Cane Rosso and Nana, are providing bites, plus we’ll have beer, wine and spirits flowing. Take a bite of the competition Wednesday at Fashion Industry Gallery, 1807 Ross Ave. A VIP reception featuring exclusive food sampling begins at 6 p.m., and doors open to the public at 7 p.m. VIP tickets are $50, general admission is $25. A portion of the proceeds benefits The March of Dimes. For tickets and more information, visit observerironfork.com.
