Origin magazine’s going national, and they’re breaking the metaphorical bottle of Champagne tonight at the Crow Collection of Asian Art. Encompassing the magazine’s commitment to oneness and cultural integration, the evening will begin with a round-robin yoga class from 6:30 until 8 before popping the real bubbly to kick off a Champagne reception, art celebration and dance party. In other words, there’s a little somethin’-somethin’ for everybody, which seems to perfectly complement the Origin ethos.
A smorgasbord of artistic collaboration, Origin is a vast new haven for artists and art lovers from a wide swath of creative media. The magazine focuses on “bring[ing] diverse worlds together, creating a platform for connection, collaboration, creativity and a strong promotion and expansion of conscious arts, uniting both collectors and artists.” Tonight’s party features tracks spun by DJ Spooky, who will be on hand to sign copies of The Book of Ice, his new multimedia, multidisciplinary study of Antarctica. Blending world-class artists, social responsibility and local flavor, Origin is just the type of publication we think can help rehab Dallas’ reputation and help catapult our fair city to the forefront of refined national culture. Tonight’s launch provides a good opportunity to move and be moved by folks who live and deep-breathe art and culture. Follow the Mixmaster on Twitter and Facebook.
