There’s smart stand-up comedy. And there’s smart-aleck commentary done while standing up. With his six years behind the desk of Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update, Dennis Miller made it clear that he could easily garner belly laughs and still cut to the heart of a political or cultural matter. With Dennis Miller Live and now the Dennis Miller Show, he’s proven he can still stick it to whomever without sacrificing a few laughs. Unfortunately, his political commentary has put him in closer proximity to Bill O’Reilly, but his acting credit in Joe Dirt tempers that shame somewhat. Why dial into his cerebral topical dialogue when you can have it flow over you in the plush seats of the Bass Performance Hall, 525 Commerce St. in Fort Worth? Miller takes the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are $36.90. Visit basshall.com.
