Is that graphite? If you were to ask exhibitions manager Kevin Jacobs the most memorable line during the Adam McEwen opening back in April, he’d say without a doubt, “Is that graphite?” In other words, it’s a question he got to field. A lot. Folks were astonished and perplexed and thrilled by McEwen’s mixed-media sculpture, painting and installation, much of which is carved with remarkable sleek detail from machined graphite. As the Goss-Michael Foundation eloquently puts it, the British artist’s work resides somewhere between the celebratory and the funereal, and we’re already sad for when it’s dead and gone from the gallery. McEwen’s exhibition runs through July 28 at 1405 Turtle Creek Blvd. Call 214-696-0555 or visit gossmichaelfoundation.org for more details.
Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturdays, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Starts: July 6. Continues through July 28, 2012
