Oh, jukebox musical, you’ve brought us so many gems. Mamma Mia!: The ABBA musical. The Boy from Oz: The Peter Allen musical. Holler if Ya Hear Me: The Tupac Shakur musical. Wait. Oh. Never mind. OK, so maybe the jukebox musical is actually a horrible concept but perhaps with the right ingredients? Enter Nice Work If You Can Get It, a jukebox musical set in the golden age of musicals featuring songs actually written for musicals. Imagine that. George and Ira Gershwin wrote more than a dozen musicals, most of which have not withstood the brutal test of time. Fortunately though, the music has, and the visionary artistic team behind Nice Work If You Can Get It saw in that unfortunate conundrum an opportunity. See the jukebox musical featuring the inimitable songs of the Gershwin boys at the Music Hall at Fair Park (900 First Ave.) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday or at various times through September 14. Tickets start at $28 and they’re available at broadwaytour.net.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2:30 p.m. Starts: Sept. 2. Continues through Sept. 14, 2014
