Anytime I hear the word “burlesque,” my mind automatically plays the scene in the movie A Christmas Story when the father gets the leg lamp for a Christmas present. You know, the sexy fake leg wearing a black high heel with a light bulb and lamp shade attached. I’ve never witnessed a burlesque show before, but that’s how I picture the dancers looking, with, of course, actual bodies attached. Dallas gets its chance this weekend to watch such a show, The Spring Swing Burlesque Revue, but it’s with a twist. This performance will include swing dancing, the dancing that saw a rebirth in the mid-’90s wherein people get swung around to jazzy music, praying they don’t break any bones while trying to look cool for us bystanders. Also, burlesque superstar Michelle L’Amour (and some local faves too) will be there wowing us with her super-smooth moves. With a name like that, how could you not get into this type of business? Be prepared to get your dance on this Saturday at the Lakewood Theater (1825 Abrams Road). Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and the show begins at 9:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for general admission and $25 for VIP. For more information, please call 214-821-SHOW.
