Living the sheltered suburban life that we do, it’s sometimes hard to relate to “urban” music. Take, for example, the band WAR. One may think, “Well, actually, none of my friends know a low rider. All of my friends know the safety and economy of Japanese- and German-built vehicles with adequate ground clearance. In light of this fact, what does WAR have to offer me? Hmmm. They do say, ‘Low rider don’t use no gas now.’ Is this song about alternative-powered vehicles?” Hey, maybe we do have something to discuss with the members of WAR. “Pardon me, WAR? Have y’all been inside the Smart Car? Crazy, right? Man, I can’t wait until they open up a dealership here.” See what happens when you yell the word “Greasecar” during WAR’s performance with Zapp and AJ Jamal at Billy Bob’s Texas, 2520 Rodeo Plaza, Fort Worth, at 8 p.m. Friday.
