It’s been a rough season on my football psyche. It started with so much hope and swagger. In the days leading up to the start of the season, my eight-hour-a-day Ticket habit left me assured that my beloved boys in blue and silver would be making a Super Bowl appearance. Tony Romo seemed so cocky and confident that they’d be blazing trails through the NFC East. And then…the Redskins. And the Cardinals. And…seriously…the Rams? It’s heartbreaking. And thrilling. If they’d just give sweet Terrell Owens the ball a little more often (ahem), and if Felix Jones could come back to burn up the field, I’d feel better about our chances for a post-season run. But, as it stands, the Dallas Cowboys are a wild card. We hope. By the time they play the not-too-bad-themselves Baltimore Ravens (who I love simply because of the irony of an NFL team moniker derived from a literary reference), we’ll have a pretty good idea of whether bromance poster boys Romo and Jason Witten will be touring frat bars, terrorizing karaoke bars and pounding shots across the nation in January, or if they’ll be making a run for it in the playoffs. Good Jesus, let’s hope it’s the latter. The Cowboys play the Ravens at Texas Stadium, 2401 E. Airport Freeway at 7:15 p.m. Visit ticketmaster.com for ticket information.
