If you’re reading this we’ll assume you’re of the demographic that is into the wintry ways of poinsettias, teas, treats and nativity scenes more than toys. For you, the holidays might actually be relaxing as opposed to the torturous anticipation children are contending with. If so, Holiday at the Arboretum has got you (and if need be, the kids) covered, with seasonal displays, activities and exhibits that include the above-mentioned features, plus live reindeer in a petting zoo, carriage rides, portraits with St. Nick, really cool tree houses and more. The festivities run Friday through December 31 (excluding Christmas Day). Admission is $5 to $8. The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is on the southeastern shore of White Rock Lake at 8525 Garland Road; the grounds are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit dallasarboretum.org for specific event days and times.
