Neither One-Eyed Willy’s booty nor a band of foul-mouthed preteens are likely candidates for a modern PG-13 movie, but they were in the 1980s. After they find a treasure map in an attic, the children from Goon Docks neighborhood set out in a desperate attempt to find enough treasure to stop developers from foreclosing on their homes. If you’ve never followed an eclectic and rag-tag gang as they made their way into (read: breaking and entering) the basement of the murderous Fratelli family and deep within secret, booby-trapped tunnels in search of long-lost treasure, truffle-shuffle over to the Inwood for a midnight adventure. Journey into the depths of long-lost children’s cinema and childhood triumph to enjoy The Goonies on the big screen. The familiar, albeit younger, faces of Sean Astin and Josh Brolin are among the film’s childhood stars. Showtimes are midnight Friday and Saturday at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane.
