So there’s this guitarist who was the first to use amplifiers, was friends with Muddy Waters and Howling Wolf, and inspired and influenced the likes of the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. Eric Clapton calls him his Elvis. Also, he’s got a thing for polka dots. Do you need to know anymore, or is this reason enough to get yourself to the House of Blues Sunday and see Buddy Guy do his thing on the guitar? If you haven’t seen him live (I have–it’s awesome), you really should. Aside from being a phenomenal player, he’s a fine showman–for instance, he’ll play a guitar solo, one handed, while shrugging his shoulders out of a leopard-print jacket. One second he’s onstage, and the next he’s playing “Feels like Rain” from the floor. At 72 years old, he’s still got fire in his music, and after leading the audience through an incredible show, there’s the inevitable “Come to Jesus” moment when he walks out in the crowd.
