So, if you’re a soon-to-be-famous opera singer, you’re faced with all kinds of challenges right? Singing well, staying inspired, not being carried off by the deformed musical genius who hides in your dressing room to give you voice lessons–the usual stuff. This isn’t Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera we’re hinting at, so don’t go looking for “Music of the Night,” but Phantom, written by Maury Yestin, is still a great night at the theater. Based on the novel by French writer Gaston Leroux, this production sticks closer to the author’s original story, so go see the real story of the Phantom, and his love for beautiful things despite his own ugliness. Catch Phantom at the Artisan Center Theatre, 418 E. Pipeline Road in Hurst, through April 23.
