Every year the day after Christmas, when I’m completely stuffed after eating a million casseroles and fried turkey and can only fit into my father’s old pair of sweatpants, I tell myself that I am going to start running again. I buy some running shoes, setup my workout playlist on the iPod and remind myself that bikini season is a few months away. That usually lasts about a week, and then I start making my weekly secret shame trips to Taco Bueno again. What can I say? Old habits die hard. If you are unlike me and have amazing self-control, then you should run The Seventh Annual Texas Half and 5K. What better way to spend a February morning than running 13 miles alongside a lake? If you’re fast enough, then you might get an award, and even if you’re a slow turtle, you still get a nifty T-shirt. The running starts at 8 a.m. Saturday at Winfrey Point (White Rock Lake , 8300 E. Lawther Drive). Check out texashalf.com for more info.
