It’s always a little bittersweet for die-hard Mavs fans when Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns come to town. After all, once upon a time in the early ’00s, Nash was our guy, swishing threes, dishing out dimes and clowning around with Dirk at more than a few local watering holes. When he bolted for the Suns in 2004, he broke our hearts, only making it worse with the two consecutive MVP seasons he rattled off. Unfortunately for Steve, his team’s fun, explosive offense never did translate to the defensive end–despite three Western Conference Finals appearances with the Suns, he still has exactly as many Championship trophies as his big German friend. And unfortunately for Steve, at the moment it doesn’t seem like this will be the Suns’ year, either, with the team sitting at .500 and his name popping up constantly in trade rumors. But hey, whether or not he has a championship, you’ve still got to love the guy–he’s one of the most charismatic and interesting players in NBA history. Don’t worry, though–when Nash and the Suns roll into town at 8:30 p.m. Friday to battle Dirk and the Mavs, we’ll still boo his ass. Just not as much as, say, Kobe or Lebron. Tickets start at $2.98 for the nosebleed seats if you can find ’em. Visit ticketmaster.com for more info.
