Once upon a time, in a town not far enough away, a college freshman (that would be me) pushed open the door to a CD store and saw a salesman and three of his friends jumping up and down in rhythm to Green Day’s recently released Dookie. The guys knew all the words, even the naughty ones, which was just shocking considering that they had formerly constituted Wichita Falls’ most buoyant Christian band. And in that moment Bowling for Soup was born. Or was at least in its infancy. I don’t know. But flash forward 13 years, and those boys (well, three of them anyway) have been nominated for a Grammy, had a couple of hits in both the U.S. and the U.K. and have even been featured on VH1’s I Love the ’90s. I would have never guessed. Join their awestruck legion of fans (again, would have never guessed) 6:30 p.m. Monday at House of Blues, 2200 N. Lamar St. Quietdrive and Army of Freshmen open.
