Dallas skateboarder Jeff Phillips was landing tricks in skate parks before Bob Burnquist could walk. He popularized “Phillips 66,” an adaptation of the fakie 360 invert. He even beat skateboard legends Tony Hawk, Mike McGill and Steve Caballero in the same tournament (reportedly while he was tripping on acid). But Phillips’ suicide in 1993 ended his career. Pay tribute to the legend at 2 p.m. Saturday at Boneless One 3 at the Overground Project (2117 S. Ervay St.) and watch renowned skateboarders such as Dave Allen and Jake Brown shred on a world-class vertical ramp (50 feet wide and 13 feet tall).
