One topic public education in Texas doesn’t cover is conjecture that Abraham Lincoln might have batted for the other team. While we’ll never know one way or another (and really, who cares?), the rumors make for good drama. Abraham Lincoln’s Big, Gay Dance Party, a darling way, way off Broadway, brings the fight for gay rights to the classroom. An elementary teacher in Illinois (Honest Abe’s home state, of course) injects a few lines about gay rights into the fourth-grade Christmas play. Out of the mouths of babes, as they say. Abraham Lincoln’s Big, Gay Dance Party starts at 8:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights at KD Studios Theatre, 2600 N. Stemmons Frwy. Tickets are $20. To purchase call 214-630- 5491 or visit levelgroundarts.com.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8:15 p.m. Starts: June 3. Continues through June 25, 2011
