Want to add a bit of a bang to your weekend? Or rattle? Or gong, even? Then you should spend some time in the company of Scottish percussionist Colin Currie, who zips between drums, cymbals, marimbas, bells, and anything else that elicits a jangle or tremor, during his insanely athletic performances. Currie has a remarkable ability to layer musical hullabaloo, harnessing noise into beautiful crescendos that stun listeners into submission. Fans of melodic commotion have the chance to appreciate his harmonious high jinks during a stateside performance at Bass Performance Hall (525 Commerce St., Fort Worth) at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Friday, Currie takes on Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man; Saturday, he’ll perform Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra composer-in-residence Jennifer Higdon’s Grammy-winning Percussion Concerto; and the Sunday show will be Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 in E Minor.
