Within the past year, I’ve managed to murder roughly a dozen plants; daisies, aloe and peace lilies (among others) have all fallen to the wayside in my pursuit of a green thumb. For a while I blamed freaky Texas weather, but I know that’s not possible, because only a couple of miles down the road is the Texas Discovery Gardens in Fair Park (3601 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.), a gorgeous 7.5-acre organic public garden. Organic in the City, Texas Discovery Gardens’ First Tuesdays program, is perfect for those of us who are horticulturally challenged, so if you’re anything like me, check out Gardening With Woody Lilies: Agaves, Yuccas and More from 6 to 8 p.m. this Tuesday. Admission is $10, $8 for members. Call 214-428-7476 or visit texasdiscoverygardens.org.
