Here in the South, we know what it takes to make a hoedown—a great caller, a hot fiddler, 30 gallons of sweet tea…and a passel of guinea pigs. OK, maybe a herd of guinea pigs is not a traditional square dance component, but it is what you’ll find at Saturday’s Third Annual Guinea Pig Hoedown. Hosted by Texas Rustlers Guinea Pig Rescue, the hoedown offers information and products to help you care for and pamper your pigs. Cute rodents (both guinea pigs and rabbits) will be available for adoption, or bring your own pig for a “well-piggy exam” from local vets and a nail clipping (just be sure your pet is secured in a carrier with food and water). Get down with the guineas at Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S. Main St., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Visit theguineapigrescue.com.
